Is your Poly B quote fair?

You have a number on paper and no way to know if it’s normal. This tool checks it against something no estimate site has: the actual totals of more than 1,500 completed Poly B replacements. Not averages from surveys, real jobs, real invoices.

How to read the verdict

The ranges come from full-service replacements: drywall access, complete Poly B removal, new piping, municipal inspection, then drywall, texture and paint. If your quote is for less than that scope, it should be under the range, and the question is what the missing scope will cost you separately. If your quote covers more, a basement development or fixture upgrades bundled in, it can honestly sit above.

Price is also the wrong place to stop. The paperwork is the product: a permit on file, a passed inspection, and a completion certificate naming full removal and the replacement material are what change your insurance position. A cheap job without them can cost more than the difference at your next renewal.

Why we publish this against ourselves

The publisher replaces Poly B for a living, and showing you the real ranges cuts both ways: it exposes lowball partial-scope quotes, and it keeps everyone honest at the top end, including us. An informed homeowner is a better customer than a confused one. The same philosophy runs through the full cost guide and the contractor question list.
